About Unit Converter

Convert across 10+ categories — length, mass, temperature, volume, area, time, speed, energy, pressure, data storage. Live bidirectional update — type in either column and the other follows. Includes both decimal and binary data sizes (KB vs KiB).

Common workflows

Recipes from another country. US recipe in cups; you want grams. Pick volume → mass via density (water-based). For non-water, look up density.

Travel. Speed limit 80 km/h → 50 mph. Distance 600 km → 373 mi.

Hardware specs. Drive 500 GB → 466 GiB. Decimal vs binary mismatch.

Engineering / physics. Pressure 1 atm ≈ 101.3 kPa ≈ 14.7 psi. The tool runs all three pinned.

Frequently asked questions

KB or KiB?
Both. Decimal (KB = 1000 bytes) is what storage marketing uses; binary (KiB = 1024 bytes) is what your OS reports. The difference accumulates — 1 TB drive shows as 931 GiB.
Celsius / Fahrenheit / Kelvin?
All three pinned in temperature mode. The conversion is not linear (offset + scale), so we compute exactly, not via approximation.
US vs UK gallons?
US (3.785 L) and UK (4.546 L) are different units. We label both clearly. Pick by recipe / spec origin.
How precise is the conversion?
To 6 significant figures by default; toggle to 12 for more. Each unit's conversion factor is from the official definition (BIPM / NIST).
Imperial measurements like stones?
Yes — 1 stone = 14 lb. Common in UK weight contexts.
What's the difference between mph and kph?
mph = miles per hour, kph = kilometers per hour. 60 mph ≈ 96.6 kph.
