About Countdown Timer

Pick a target date and time; see years, days, hours, minutes, and seconds remaining, updating live. Useful for product launches, exam dates, weddings, vacations, contract deadlines, and any moment you want a constantly-visible countdown.

Common workflows

Product launch countdown. Target your launch date. Pin the tab on a TV in the team room. Countdown drives focus.

Exam date. Days until the cert exam. Update study cadence based on remaining time.

Wedding planning. Big-day countdown. Useful for vendor scheduling.

Contract milestone. Days until renewal, days until termination notice deadline.

Round number anniversary. Project countdown to its 1000th day, 1-year mark, 5-year anniversary.

Why a tool over a calendar

Calendars show the date; countdown shows the gap. The cognitive load is different — knowing “March 15” vs “47 days from now” surfaces urgency. For long-horizon dates, the day count keeps things real.

Frequently asked questions

Time zone?
Defaults to your local zone. Toggle UTC if your target is a timezone-agnostic deadline (e.g. RFC release date).
Past target?
Switches to count-up. "Event was 47 days, 3 hours ago."
Pause / resume?
The countdown is real-time, no pause. Closing the tab does not stop the underlying date math — it always reflects current time minus target.
Share a countdown?
The URL captures the target date. Copy and share for the recipient to open with the same countdown.
Notification when done?
Browser tabs are not reliable for notification past close. For real reminders, use a calendar app.
Multiple countdowns?
Pin several. Each lives in your URL state; copy share links for each.
How do I make a 5 or 10 minute countdown timer?
Set the target to a few minutes from now — 5, 10, whatever you need — and the display counts down live to zero. Open it full-screen for a classroom, presentation, or workout timer. Because the target is captured in the URL, you can bookmark a "5-minute timer" link and reuse it.
How do I add a countdown timer in PowerPoint, Google Slides, or Canva?
None of them have a true live countdown built in. The common options: in PowerPoint, insert an add-in (e.g. "Breaktime" / "EasyTimer") or animate shapes with timed transitions; in Google Slides, embed a countdown YouTube video or a screenshot; in Canva, use its animated timer element. For a live, full-screen countdown during the talk, the simplest route is to open this timer in a browser tab and switch to it — no plugin, no embed.
