Frequently asked questions
Tip on subtotal or post-tax?
Etiquette varies by region. Subtotal is more common in Europe; many US diners tip on the post-tax total. The difference matters at higher tax rates (NYC, Chicago).
How much should I tip?
Region-dependent. US: 15-20% restaurant, 10-15% delivery. EU: rounding up is common, formal tipping is rarer. Japan/ Korea: tipping is unusual.
What about a service charge?
If the bill includes a service charge, additional tip is generally not expected (unless service was exceptional).
Round per person?
Toggle. Round per-person amounts up to the nearest dollar for cash splits. The difference rounds into the tip.
Tip on bottle service?
Often added as 18-20% gratuity automatically — verify the bill before tipping again.
Group split with different orders?
This tool splits evenly. For itemized splits, use a dedicated bill-split app like Splitwise.
